July 4th — Remembering Steve McNair

Don’t sleep on Steve McNair.

======================

If you didn’t know about him — youuu better get to…

Facts About Steve:

Born and raised in MOUNT OLIVE, MISSISSIPPI (led Mt. Olive to championship as a JUNIOR!)

After being initially offered to play defensive back for The Florida Gators, his heart was in playing quarterback and chose the SWAC’s Alcorn State University Braves in Lorman, MS, an HBCU.

Was drafted #3 over all by the Houston Oilers in 1995.

Known best as star quarterback for the Tennessee Titan (led the Titans to 4 playoffs & Superbowl XXXIV).

Pro Bowl (3xs), All-Pro, & Co-MVP (Titans)

=================================================

But those are just facts… What do we really know about Steve McNair?

================================================

I grew up watching Steve while he was playing for the Titans. Became a fan (without knowing what in the heck was going on); but my father who was a TRUE fan of McNair and also was his fraternity brother (Omega Psi Phi),

that’s all I knew at the time — Steve McNair.

However, I was also a fan of Eddie George #27! =]

Steve was married to a gorgeous woman by the name of Mechelle

and had sons during their marriage (Steve LaTreal McNair & Steven O’Brian McNair).

While McNair was throwing footballs for the NFL, Mechelle, who was a Golden Girl for ASU, lived out a long time dream of hers and went back to school to get her nursing degree.

“Nobody else knows how many times she has taken care of me when I couldn’t even move in the middle of the night or morning after a game.”

-Steve McNair, 2004

….an AMAZING woman she is.

McNair also had 2 other sons (Tyler and Trenton), by other women.

==================================================

On this day, 2 years ago, Steve McNair was found dead with 4 gunshot wounds to his head and body in his condo in downtown Nashville, TN.

Along lay beside him… a woman,

Sahel Kazemi.

Whom Mechelle, knew nothing about.

It was later proven that this woman, took McNair’s life while he was asleep on the couch, and later took her own with a gunshot wound to her temple.

==murder-suicide==

Steve McNair was buried in Prentiss, MS.

McNair’s 4 children each will receive (if haven’t already) $500,000

==============================================

Me? Well McNair’s legacy will continue to live on…

But.

I just hope SOMEONE learned from this crazy love triangle

R.I.P. Steve McNair February 14, 1973 – July 4, 2009
