Personal Musings

I Just Entered An Interesting Chapter In My Life…

So… let me tell you guys about my day. Seldom am I personal on here, but today… has been one of the best days of my life. I mean seriously — from waking up → right now.

First off — shout out to the prettiest gals in the world, the Gamma Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Jackson State University; Jackson, MS) — April 24, 1949 our gorgeous chapter was born. Skeeee – Wee! Love all of my sisters

So, just like any other morning this week, and on last week, I got up, got dressed, got my 1st dose of coffee, and headed off to school to finish editing THE dopest art piece for one of my colleagues. (BTW, he just texted me with awesome words and filled me in on the reaction amongst his cohorts in his screening tonight — two thumbs up:)

Today, I also had a really big marketing business plan presentation to present and I had lots of fun doing it! Got a hand clap and a great response from my professor and classmates. During that 30 minutes, I knew FOR SURE that I wanted a career in Entertainment PR, Marketing and Distribution.

But something amazing happened. Something that makes this day so much better… Today, I got an email offering me an internship with a New York based Entertainment PR, Marketing, and Branding Company. I almost cried! No seriously, I almost cried. I wanted it so bad, and God had answered my prayers. I rejoiced and texted only a few people (family & close friends). And at that moment, as I TRIED to maintain my composure,  it seemed almost too good to be true. I continued to re-read the email over and over, and over again, lol.

This marks a very, very interesting chapter in my life and I am so excited, I wanted you all to know :) My dreams have been coming true for the last couple of years — so NEVER think that it’s not possible. EVER.

And to think that one of my recent, most random Facebook statuses reads, “ahh… I’m excited for my future! Through blessings and blessings to come, anything is possible :)”

So I will close with what my God mother told me today, “Look out New York, Charli is on her way to the Big Times!”

PS…

Thank you mom and dad. You have been my #1 supporters since birth. You remember the years… gymnastics, cheerleading, ballet/tap/jazz, track, basketball, all the summer camps, sitting front and center at all of my award ceremonies, being a walking ATM machine… that LONG drive to Washington, DC to drop me and my things off… I will never be able to thank you enough. And as you two always say, “PTL”. I LOVE You.

  1. Congratulations, Charlie. Your fututere has come and from this point your next journey will be very much exiting :)

  2. Charli,
You deserve everything good that comes your way. You have always been one of the most respectful and caring young ladies that I know. In addition, your smile will assist you in obtaining the opportunities that you seek. So, keep smiling! You have a beautiful and dedicated family as well. As I have told you on many occassions, the sky is the limits for you. But always reach beyond the skies. God has blessed you and will continue to bless you. Also, as I always tell you, if you need my assistance with contacts or anything, please do not hesitate to let me know. If I can do it, it’s done!!!!!!!!!

    Take care,
    “Lap” Baker

    1. Thanks Mr. Lap! I’ll be seeing you next week and maybe we can hook up for lunch! Thank you for being a mentor to me and I hope that you’ll continue! Thanks much, much.

      See you soon!

  3. Ahhhh, I do believe I told said you were destined for big things when you headed to graduate school. And think I knew you when. Let me know the details when you get a chance. You need to speak to the JSU students on how you worked it. Try to work that out next year maybe Mass Communication Day, if you can work it in your busy schedule.
    Much love to you.

    1. Thanks so much Prof! I owe you for pushing me! I will be home next week, so I’ll come by and see you if you’re in town. I’ll shoot you an email. I also need your new number! The one I have in my phone wasn’t correct when I tried contacting you over the spring break. Talk with you soon!
