Hey, hey! So in honor of the weekly Natural Hair Style of the Week, I decided to feature my natural hair length as of May 2012. Enjoy!
Name: Charli Dell
Chosen Style: Pressed baby!
Hair Type: 3C – 4A
Products: Any time I ever decide to flat iron my hair, I always, always deep condition for 12 – 24 hours prior to pressing. (I try to reach the 24 hour mark, but recently it’s only been around 12 hours because of my schedule.) Any who, after washing my hair with Apple Cider Vinegar, I detangle with whatever conditioner I can find (Pantene Naturals OR Pantene Curly), & then wash that out.
I paper towel dry my hair thoroughly and work Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner into my hair; and make 4 sections (2 at the top and 2 in the back). Then I work some heat protectant through each section.
I blow dry on a low setting until majority is dry, spray some Olive Oil Hair Spray all over, and I let the rest air dry.
Later, I flat iron with my Chi and dust my ends, only when necessary.
And Wah-la — Magic…
(Yes, this is almost a day long process, but I don’t like to rush and damage/tear my hair. So it’s worth it!)
Tips: Sleep on a satin pillowcase. PAPER towel your hair dry (overly using bath towels tends to break your hair, especially while it’s wet). Your hair is straight until you get to the ends??? That means you need to clip, clip! It’s really too hot to wear your hair straight right now, so I don’t recommend doing this until it cools off in the Fall, but I had wear my hair this way because the last 2 weeks of school were crazy, crazy! It’s hard to manage curly hair when you’re too busy to even eat! :/ (I know, right?) HOWEVER, I do blow my hair out when I want to wear two strand twists. I no longer like to twist while it’s wet = too much shrinkage!
