Alarming Lifestyle | Sleep Texting On the Rise

Remember that thing people tend to do from time to time? A disorder called sleep walking? Well studies are now saying that this thing called “sleep texting” is well on its rise. The alarming part is, you won’t even remember doing it.

In an article written by Marc Lallanill (LiveScience), he quoted:

“Four o’clock in the morning, 3 o’clock in the morning — it would just be a sentence of jumbled-up stuff,” sleep-texter Megan told CBS New York. “I guess I got up and texted, and went back to bed, but I don’t remember it.”

He also wrote:

Aside from compromising situations, sleep-texting may cause health issues as well. In many cases, sleep-texting occurs about two hours after a person falls asleep, when deep, restful REM (rapid eye movement) sleep would normally begin.

Sleep texting could start as something harmless like sending “Hi” and worsen into something embarrassing like jumbled words disregarded as being “drunk texting”. There isn’t a way around it, nor do you have control over who you end up texting. But in light of all your madness, sleeping disorder experts recommend shutting off all electronics before bed, and/or in more serious cases, putting your gadget away in another room.
