When I had the honor of meeting Erykah Badu last year during pre-show of the BET Honors, I confirmed the whole idea of her being hip, street, fly — all of that with a fascinating urban twist.
And then… with Givenchy known for his unique attention-grabbing campaigns, if anything, Miss Badu — one of black America’s most iconic, eccentric, yet stylish women — should have been awarded this opportunity a long, long time ago.
Oh, fashionistas, think: Africa-meets-Japan. Yes, we will see a little bit of that and a little bit of Baduizm in this highly anticipated themed collection. Work your magic, Queen. We see you :)
Everyone knows that I’m no fashionista nor am I trend follower — well at least I don’t like the spotlight, limelight, or any of that seek for attention thrill. I kind of sit back and just do me. But secretly, I’ve always had this obsession with Badu’s style. She’s the epitome of urban bohemian. One day I’ll be able to match it. Guess I’ll start by getting my nose re-pierced. Maybe this weekend. Don’t believe me? Just watch.
