The Foundation for the National Archives today launched an online contest to allow one lucky winner to receive two tickets to the 2014 DC Fashion Week (DCFW) Opening Night event at the National Archives; a year-long membership for two in the Foundation’s Young Founders Society; and two VIP seats for an upcoming major fashion related Archives event in fall 2014.

The Foundation recently announced a new partnership to highlight Washington, DC’s rich and diverse culture. Leveraging the National Archives Museum’s latest exhibit, “Making Their Mark: Stories Through Signatures”, the Foundation will host DCFW’s Opening Night event on September 24 at the National Archives Building. The evening will debut 2015 Spring/Summer designer collections and include a special presentation honoring DCFW’s 10-years of showcases. The Opening Night event will be free and open to the public, but RSVPs are required. Tickets are available online via EventBrite | DC Fashion Week Open Night.

“Making Their Mark” features original signatures from National Archives holdings nationwide – including those from fashion, sports, politics and entertainment – and the stories behind them. The exhibit features the #SignatureStyle of First Ladies and Presidents, including Jackie Kennedy’s pillbox hat, President Bush’s cowboy boots, and more.

ENTRANCE GUIDELINES

Participants can enter the contest by submitting a photo of their own #SignatureStyle at http://www.archivesfoundation.org/signaturestyle starting TODAY (August 20) through September 1, 2014, at 11:59pm ET. A panel of judges from the Foundation for the National Archives will select the top 10 entries received during the submission period and they will be posted on the Foundation’s FACEBOOK Page and TUMBLR Blog at 11am on September 2, 2014. Once posted, images will be available to the public for voting through 1pm on September 17, 2014. Each member of the public may vote three times via one like on the Foundation’s Facebook page and one like and one reblog on the Foundation’s Tumblr. The entrant with the most votes across both platforms as of September 17, 2014, will be selected as the contest winner and announced by 5pm on the 17th. See the Foundation’s website for full rules and contest details.
