While attending graduate school at Howard University to earn my MFA, I got the privilege to work and study with highly creative, talented, artistic and successful colleagues. Those who’ve shared their artwork and projects all across the United States and even all across Europe. The experiences were absolutely astounding — each and every one! Among those, is my dear friend Torell Shavone who has just launched a kickstarter campaign for her upcoming thesis project “Where The Water Meets The Sand”. This project is anticipated to be a very successful film about an emotionally wounded young woman who struggles on a mystical journey to find love — that even Carla Hall of ABC’s “The Chew” has endorsed it!

In the story, we meet Lyric Cage at a time in her life journey where she is struggling to free herself from the pain of her past and present. The story begins in Lyric’s childhood where she is taken on a trip by her mother, Tasha, who promises to take her to a blissful place called The Shore. Along the way Lyric’s mother abandons her for her own self–centered agenda, leaving Lyric at 7 years old to find her way alone.
Flash forward 20 years, we join Lyric at 27 still on the journey to find love. On her course she encounters a relationship with a seemingly compassionate musician, Ajane. After getting lost on the way to The Shore, Lyric realizes Ajane is holding her physically and emotionally captive. At a moment of opportunity, she fights to break free but moments later runs into her long lost mother, Tasha. With her deranged lover, Ajane, on her trail and her conflicted mother unable to fulfill her void, will she be able to liberate herself enough to make it to The Shore?
