As I have mentioned before, a lot of my friends have been getting married over the past few years. I might not be married myself, but I have spent a lot of time helping friends to plan their celebrations.
One common trend that I’ve noticed is that most couples struggle most with one task: choosing their wedding rings. Picking wedding bands can be difficult for many reasons. While some couples run into trouble with the budget, others struggle when it comes to choosing a style. Choosing the perfect rings is never an easy job, no matter how in sync you are your partner are.

That’s why I did some research and decided to put together a guide to all the top tips for choosing your wedding rings. For everything that you need to know about wedding band shopping, have a read of these useful tips:
Set a budget beforehand
Don’t make the catastrophic mistake of not setting a budget until you are in the jewelry store. If you want to prevent world war three from breaking out, talk about the budget beforehand.
At a minimum, you should aim to save $1500 for your wedding bands. If you want engraving or extra embellishments added, you will need to save even more. Discuss how much you want to spend, before going ring shopping, so you both know how large your budget is.
Narrow down your options
Before you go ring shopping, it’s a good idea to narrow down your choices. The best way to do that is thinking about what each of you want from your wedding bands. For instance, you might want your band to match your engagement ring while he may want his to match his watch.
It’s also important to consider the style of wedding band that you want – do you want a simple design or something more elaborate? Perhaps you want your rings to be engraved or to contain gemstones and diamonds? It’s a good idea to work out these things before shopping, so that when you hit the stores, you know what you are looking for.
Be mindful of your lifestyle
When you are picking a ring, it’s important to understand that you will be wearing it every day. This means that you need to ensure that you choose a ring that works well with your lifestyle.
For instance, if you are an active person who works with their hands, look for a ring design that’s slim, and plain. This will prevent gemstones falling out when you are working or exercising, and will also stop dust and dirt from getting caught in your ring. If you want to ensure that your wedding band stays looking as good as possible, opt for a platinum band, as these are durable and scratch resistant.
Don’t worry about having different styles of ring
If you and your partner both like different wedding band styles, don’t fret about it. You don’t have to have wedding rings that are the same style or metal, what you choose is up to you.
If, for instance, you want a gold wedding ring, but you partner wants a platinum band, there is no need to stress. You can go for different styles, or you could compromise and have a custom ring design that combines both of these metals.
Whatever metals and styles of rings you opt for, it’s important that one part of the bands match each other. This could be as simple as an engraving or a couple of gemstones – the designs you choose is up to you.
Follow these tips and you should find it much easier and less stressful to choose the perfect wedding rings.
