You only live once, as they say. So to make the most of every day of your life and improve things for yourself, there is only one way of going about things. In this guide, I’m going to take a look at a few different goals you can try and achieve to set your life on a better path. With a little luck and a lot of commitment, you can expect to see positive changes in your life. Let’s get started.
Identify what’s holding you back
If the movie Frozen has taught us anything, it is that an average film can become wildly successful on the strength of its soundtrack. Just kidding, of course – I’m referring to the phrase ‘let it go.’ We all have our little demons that hold us back. They could be regrets of something that you did earlier in your life or anger at your current status.
However, to start becoming more successful, and to begin challenging yourself effectively, you are going to have to give that all up. If it’s too hard for you to do on your own, don’t be afraid to get help. A therapist could help you iron out some of your kinks, and will help you learn about why you feel like you do. They will also help you begin to recognize when those feeling start to bubble to the surface, so you can nip them in the bud.

Clear out and make room
Are you the type of person that keeps everything and anything? Your next challenge is to try and declutter your home. In doing so, you will be helping to declutter your mind, too. All of your possessions will have an attachment to your past, so being brave enough to get rid of them will allow you to move on with your life.
Stop buying needless things, too. You’ll just be adding more clutter. Are you really going to read all of those books, or watch all those DVDs? When was the last time you fitted into those jeans?
The next time someone asks you what you want for your birthday or Christmas, ask for an experience instead. Buy them for your loved ones, too, so you can share those experiences together. There are some gifts for him or her that you can both do, and those memories will last you a lifetime. Which do you remember most? The time you did a bungee jump, or what you watched on TV on your 16th birthday? I would put my house on it being the former.
Make more plans
The next step in challenging yourself is to make more plans. It doesn’t matter what they are, just get up, get out there, and meet more people. It could be friends you haven’t seen for months, or work colleagues you haven’t had a chance to see socially.
The point is to have real contact with people, face-to-face. Don’t rely on social networks to tell you how people are – when you read those feeds, it might seem like everybody is as happy as Larry. The chances are, they are just putting a brave face on it – as you are.
Stop watching as much TV, too. You have your own life to lead and are much better off doing it the right way, instead of watching others do it the wrong way.
When was the last time you actually challenged yourself and were out of your comfort zone? If you want to better yourself, it’s the one thing that will really help you get to where you want to be.
Sure, you might be afraid of failure. But failing is the only way to learn how to do something well. All experts fail, it’s how they become experts. But, they keep trying and come up with alternative ideas before they get on the right track.
There are a number of things you can do to start challenging yourself more. You could get involved with a local charity and make it your goal to raise them more money. You could set yourself a weight target and change your lifestyle and get fit over six months or so. Maybe you could do a course in your favorite hobby, and start a side business?
Try and challenge yourself at least once every day, no matter how small that challenge is. It’s getting into the routine and mindset that are important.
Well, we hope that has helped you come up with some ideas for making the most out of every day. We would love to hear about what you do – so why not let us know how you keep yourself motivated and challenged?
