The world is, sadly, an appearance obsessed place. Because of this, many of us are not happy with ourselves, unless we look ‘perfect’. However, what it’s important to realize is that there is no one body shape, nose size or breast size that is perfect. If we all looked the same, life would be incredibly boring.

That being said, if there is something about yourself that is knocking your confidence, don’t feel bad about wanting to change it. Yes, we should be happy with what God gave us, but if something is really getting you down, changing it is okay.

To help boost your body confidence, here are some ideas for dealing with common self-esteem issues:

Your weight

No matter what size or shape you are, the most important thing is that you are healthy. Of course, in terms of your appearance, having a flat tummy is probably high on your list of importance, but it shouldn’t be. What you should focus on is making your body healthy and happy, not on transforming it into a certain shape.

You can diet all you want, but that doesn’t mean you will ever look like your friend with the ‘perfect’ body. It’s important to realize that we each have a different body shape – some of us have curves while others have much straighter figures.

However, if you don’t like the look of your body, it may be because you are overweight and not healthy. You can check this out using a BMI calculator – body mass calculator. If you find that you are overweight, losing a little weight will no doubt, boost your body confidence.

Your teeth

When we meet new people, our smiles are the first thing that are noticed. That’s why, if you have bad teeth – crooked or stained, they can cause all sorts of self-esteem issues. Obviously, the best thing that you can do is take good care of your teeth – clean them twice a day and go for checkups.

As well as having a good dental plan in place, there are also plenty of other ways you can improve the look of your teeth. If you have stains, make an appointment to see the hygienist and see if they can get them off. Failing that, consider having your teeth professionally whitened. For crooked teeth, the only option is braces. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean having metal wires across your teeth for the next few years. Instead, you could consider having invisible braces.

Your skin

At some point or another, many of us suffer from bad skin. Having spots and blemishes all over your face isn’t nice – it can really knock your body confidence. However, there are plenty of things that you can try to prevent spots from occurring.

The most important thing you can do is eat a clean, healthy diet. Avoid eating foods that are high in sugar and fat, as these can wreak havoc on your skin. It’s also important to cleanse your skin with an antibacterial cleanser twice a day. Natural products, like aloe vera and witch hazel scrubs, work incredibly well when it comes to preventing spots. Don’t try to hide your skin problems with makeup, as this will only make things worse.

It might not be nice having blemishes, but take note of these tips, and you will soon have healthy, clear skin.

Body confidence is not something that will appear overnight; it will take time. However, if you follow the tips above, you can get yourself off to a good start.
