Healthy Living | The 7 Step Starter Guide to Fitness

Are you completely new to fitness? Want to get into it but you just don’t know where to start? This 7 step starter guide will help you out. Let’s talk about everything you need before you can start sculpting the body of your dreams!

  • Step 1: Coming Up with a Plan

You can’t expect to get fit if you don’t have a plant to start you off. Nobody expects you to come up with a plan yourself, especially if you’re just starting out. There are a few different things you can do. Either contact a PT and get them to create a plan for you, or find a free one online that you like the look of. Make sure the plan you choose suits your goals though. By doing a little research, it shouldn’t be difficult to know what you need to do.

  • Step 2: Eating to Support Your Training

If your eating is all off, you won’t get the results you want from your plan. Make sure you’re eating to support your training. A good PT may be able to give you some nutritional advice too, but again, all the information you need is online. You should never starve yourself, and you should be making sure you’re getting a mix of different macros.

  • Step 3: Getting the Gear

Once you have an idea of what you’re supposed to be doing, you can get the gear. This means things like a water bottle, gym bag, yoga pants and leggings, etc. You may also want an armband for your phone or MP3 player, and a notebook to jot down your exercises and any notes.

  • Step 4: Your Mindset

Your mindset is one of the most important factors in all of this. If it isn’t in the right place, you’re not going to get very far! You need to be in this for the long haul. You need to know that it’s a lifelong thing, not just something you do for a few weeks until you get the results you want. Going back to the way you were before is not OK.

  • Step 5: A Routine

Getting into a routine is the best way to be consistent. Go and do your workout at similar times, and make sure you eat at similar times too. Get into the routine of food prepping and things like that that can help you reach your goals too.

  • Step 6: The Means to Measure Your Progress

If you’re going to succeed, you need to measure your progress properly. How will you do this? Most people like to take pictures of themselves, but you can also measure yourself, weigh yourself, and take your body fat. If you don’t have a lot of fat to lose, weighing yourself may not be the best idea as it isn’t very accurate.

  • Step 7: A Sustainable Routine

You need to continue with a sustainable routine even when you’ve gotten to where you want to be. This is the only way you’ll keep this up forever!
