Check your Toothbrush

When was the last time you replaced your toothbrush? If it was longer than two or three months ago, you need to buy a new one. Bacteria can develop on the surface on your toothbrush, which you will then spread over your teeth each time you brush. This is obviously not ideal as it could develop into gum disease which often results in tooth loss. The bristles on your brush will also lose their flexibility and shape overtime, causing them to become less efficient at cleaning. You should also be replacing your floss often as this can also become unhygienic over time. Replace these every few months to ensure you’re using the best and most hygienic tools for cleaning.

Some foods and drink will stain the surface of your teeth making them discolored and dull. Cut back on coffee, wine and dark coloured juices in particular. These are some of the main culprits for staining and can increase and get darker over time. These stains can be difficult to remove. This means that regular intensive teeth whitening and cleaning sessions may be your only solution. Try eating foods such as apples, raw carrot and celery which will make your teeth look cleaner and strengthen them too. Fruit juices may seem like a sensible option, but they are often packed with lots of sugar. So always opt for water, which will also help make your smile look better.

Go Homemade

If you’re not sure which mouthwash or toothpaste is going to give you the best results, why not make your own instead. Homemade dental products are cheap and easy to create with simple ingredients in your kitchen. Apple cider vinegar may not sound like a fantastic liquid to gargle with, but the vinegar will kill bacteria and reduce stains. You should use this first thing in the morning and brush directly afterwards. Baking soda has a countless number of uses and cleaning teeth is one of them. Clean your teeth with this incredible product once a week for whiter teeth in no time. If you don’t have baking soda, try salt instead. It might not taste particularly pleasant but you will notice a difference almost instantly.

Routine is key

The best way to maintain a healthy, white smile is by brushing twice a day and organising regular check-ups with your dentist. Don’t forget to brush each tooth in a circular motion to ensure the whole surface has been cleaned properly.

So don’t avoid smiling if you’re not happy with how your teeth look. Use these methods to get them looking fabulously white always and fix the problem head on. It will take some time and effort but it will be worth it when you are left with such fantastic results.
