We all want to keep our teeth healthy, but we also don’t want to add unnecessary substances if possible. For the most part, we don’t think what we put in our mouths before we ingest, which is not a good thing. Even conventional and popular oral hygiene techniques may not be very healthy for our teeth on an overall level. So, we need to find alternatives that will work as effectively, but that will also not damage our oral health. For some much-needed inspiration, take a look at the list below.

Find A Holistic Dentist

Surely the dentist cannot be bad for your teeth? Well, in some ways a conventional dentist may not do what is best for your oral health. That sounds silly, so let me explain. The most conventional methods that are in use today are not necessarily good for us on a broad scale. For example, pulling teeth or cosmetic surgery of any kind has a negative effect on teeth. Over an extended period, the effects and build up and cause even more problems. The best option is to sign up with a holistic dentist. They do their best to treat your teeth as organically as possible so as not to put them through undue stress.

Use Fluoride Toothpaste

Most toothpaste use fluoride, but the more, the better. Fluoride is a mineral that is naturally found in water, and it has amazing oral hygiene benefits. Fluoride strengthens the teeth, and that helps prevent tooth decay. And, because it is a natural mineral, fluoride is perfectly healthy. So, the next time you buy toothpaste, you should make sure you check the packaging to see the fluoride level before heading to the checkout.

Watch Your Diet

What we eat has a major impact on our oral health. It is quite obvious when you think about it – if you ingest harmful bacteria, it will damage your teeth. Still, even with this knowledge, it is hard to make a change. We all know that junk food isn’t good for us, but we eat it anyway because it tastes good. The key is to cut down as much as possible and only treat yourself once or twice a week. That way, you can limit the amount of harmful bacteria that goes into your mouth and prevent stains, bad breath and tooth decay.

Kill Bad Bacteria

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to prevent bad bacteria from entering the mouth. So, we need a backup plan. The best backup is to kill the bacteria when they enter the mouth, which is doable. All you need are a few cleaning and hygiene products that are known to work. We already have brushing sewn down, but what about mouthwash and floss. Without floss and a strong mouthwash, it is going to be very difficult to eradicate the bacteria that cause damage to the teeth. After all, brushing only does so much, and it is then up to the additional products to finish the job.
