Being stressed out is something we all with inevitably face at work, but instead of dealing with it many of us avoid it or bury it. Listen to music

Relaxing after work can start the second you get into your car. Music is a brilliant way of alleviating stress and can instantly change your mood. Create a CD or playlist on your phone that is full of your favourite songs. You might have some aggressive and loud music to begin with to assist you in unleashing your initial anger and frustration. Never drive when you are feeling this way as it can cause you to speed and miss important signs and signals. You can then have some soothing ballads to calm you down. Classical music may not be everyone’s top choice, but it’s been scientifically proven to improve health and reduce stress. So tune into a classical radio station on your long commute home.  Nature sounds can also create a soothing, calm atmosphere that will help you forget about your stresses from the day.

Pamper yourself

Taking some time out of your evening to look after our body and allowing your mind to rest is beneficial to your health and wellbeing. Pampering yourself is an ideal way to de-stress after a long day. You could head to a spa and sit in the sauna, have a hot stone massage or treat yourself to some facial treatments. Alternatively, you can go home, light some candles and play some ambient music while you relax in a bubble bath. This can be a time where you meditate and reflect on your troubles while feeling stress-free. If you aren’t a bath person, you can find the best foot massager and skin care products available which you can use while you read a book.

Exercising

For many of us, the last thing we want to do is exercise when we feel stressed out. But even if you spend all day being active at work, some light exercise at home can do you the world of good. Activities such as boxing and zumba can be an outlet for frustration and anger while being fun and enjoyable. Yoga and swimming are ideal for relaxing your mind while toning your body without too much strenuous movement. As well as improving your body, exercise also produces endorphins that can make you feel happy and refreshed.

Always make sure you plan in this time to de-stress. It’s essential for both your mental and physical state. Why not try out a couple of these this week and instantly feel more refreshed and relaxed.
