The Price Of Your Health Is Higher Than You Think

How much do you spend on your health each month? Better yet, how much do you spend on staying fit and healthy each year? If you pride yourself on being the epitome of physical fitness, you might find the answer quite shocking. Take a look into your personal finances and we think you’ll see that a significant portion of your income is spent on your health. This could be the food you buy, the gym you joined or even your health care. The question you then need to ask is why is the price of your health so why and what can you do about it?

Pushing People To Be Healthy Is Profitable

First, you need to realize the profit behind the health game, and there’s a lot of it. Whether it’s the new the shake makers or the supplements, businesses are making a killing from healthy thinking. If you want to stay fit you should expect to spend a lot of cash, unless you know what’s useful and what’s not. For instance, is condensing everything down in a blender actually good for you? Or, is this just yet another example of bad science? The answer is quite simple. If you eat the ingredients in a smoothie separately you’re still going to get the effects. You don’t need to blend them all together. Or how about supplements? Supplements should only be taken by those who struggle to get the vitamins from their natural diet. Otherwise, this is just another waste of money.

Healthy Living Is In Industry

It doesn’t matter whether you’re buying meds from a pharmacy or visiting your doctor it’s easy to forget that you’re dealing with a business. That means they can charge you prices for their products and services. Of course, if you have a chronic condition the cost of this treatment is going to add up all too quickly. That’s why you should look into ways of cheapening the deal. One possibility is to think about using a prescription discount card. With a prescription discount card you can save money on any prescriptions you need throughout the year.

Healthy Food Costs More

It’s easy to look at working class families and judge them for letting their children get obese. Or for falling into such a poor state of health themselves. However, typically this type of bad health tends to be caused by socio-economic factors. Eating healthy is far more expensive than buying fatty foods, particularly if you want meals to taste good. Just think about how much would be added to your weekly shop if you bought all organic fruit and vegetables.

Don’t Forget About The Exercise

Healthy living isn’t the only industry that’s profiting off your desire to stay fit. There’s also the sporting industry, selling products and items that you need to get in shape! Or do you? Typically you tend to find that expense is added on if you want a named brand of equipment or piece of clothing. If you’re happy to use products that don’t have the Nike tick slapped on them, you can save a lot of money on exercise. And remember you don’t need a gym to keep in good shape. All you need is a pair of running trainers and an open road.

We hope we’ve shed some light on how to save money and stay fit without breaking a sweat.
