People treat new year’s as if it is the only time of year that you can make a life-changing resolution. That means that for the rest of the year, you could be putting off doing something that could potentially massively improve your life. The truth is that winter is not a great time to be doing anything. You want to be indoors and hibernating most of the time if truth be told. So, as summer starts to approach, here are some super summertime resolution ideas to give you some inspiration.
Learn a New Language
This is one of the classic new year’s resolutions that tends to fall by the wayside pretty quickly. If you really want to learn a different language, you have to immerse yourself in it as much as possible. Apps like Duolingo give you a good starting point, and you can set reminders to make sure you keep it up every day. It is also a good idea to be talking with a native speaker of the language as much as possible. If you really want to test your skills, plan a holiday to the place where the language is commonly spoken.
Try a New Hobby
There are all kinds of new hobbies out there just waiting for you to give them a go. It may be that you want to try something fitness-based, in which case you could join a different class at the gym or try a new sport. You may want to try something elegant and impressive like ballroom dancing or something creative like painting. As well as giving you something to focus your attentions on, hobbies tend to work different parts of the brain that you may not have been using before.
Visit New Places
Even if you don’t have the funds for an expensive holiday to the other side of the world, you could simply visit some attractions you have never been to before in your own hometown. When people live in a place for a long period of time, they tend to miss out on many of the things that a tourist would do. They say that variety is the spice of life, so even if you just go to a new cafe that has opened up recently or a park a little further away from your house, this can give you a totally different impression of the place you call home.
Start Making Yes Your Default Response
Often, when people are invited out to social events or to do an activity that they have never tried before, their automatic response is to say no. Remember, in years to come, you will never remember the nights that you spent sitting at home while watching Netflix. You never know, you may make some new friends or even discover a new passion in life.
These are just a few ideas for summertime resolutions that you could try. Get creative, get outside and most importantly, enjoy yourself!
