5 Tips for the Ultimate Beauty Sleep and a Good Night’s Rest


Are you having a stressful day? Do you look haggard despite all the beauty treatments you’ve tried? Well, there’s one solution for both: getting enough sleep. After all, your body needs sleep to recover from a long day of work or play. Basically, it’s the time when the body repairs itself, and as such, having better skin simply won’t be possible without sleep!

So if you want to get a good night’s sleep for a more beautiful you, here are a few pointers you should take note of:

Prepare your sleeping area

We all know that it’s hard to get a good night’s sleep in a noisy, brightly-lit environment. Bright lights can even affect your circadian rhythm and your normal sleep pattern. So make sure that your room is dark, quiet, and cozy to help you doze off. Install soft mood lighting in your room to replace sources of white light, cover windows with heavy curtains, and make sure that the sheets are fresh. And to create that spa-like ambiance, get a diffuser to generate a fine, aromatic mist.

Make sure you have everything you need within easy reach

If you keep getting out of bed because you forgot something, you really won’t get a good night’s sleep. So before you tuck yourself in, make sure that you have everything you need for your beauty sleep on your nightstand. Some items you should have close by include beauty products such as toner, face serum, and eye masks like the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. You should also have a tumbler of water so that you can rehydrate the moment you wake up.

Keep distractions at bay

The bright light of a smartphone or tablet will make it hard for you to get the sleep you need. That’s not to mention the unwanted notifications that may pop up. So put your phone in mute, and store it inside a drawer on the other side of your room to prevent it from disrupting your sleep. And in case you have small children, make sure they’re sound asleep before you go to bed.

Hydrate in different ways

The body loses a lot of water while you sleep, so it’s important to stay hydrated. However, simply drinking H2O before bed isn’t always the best option, as you may end up having to get up in the middle of the night to pee. Hence, instead of drinking, try “eating” your hydration instead. Eat fruits such as watermelon or vegetables like cucumber, as these contain enough water, but the kind that won’t exit your body right away.

Make sure to sleep on your back

If you sleep face-down or on one side, pressure is exerted on your skin that can result in wrinkles. So if you want your face to stay crease-free, stay on your back when sleeping. You should also sleep with a puffy pillow—or add an extra one—under your head to help prevent puffy eyes. Keeping your head elevated will help fluid circulate down from your head to the rest of your body, preventing them from building up around your eyes.

These five tips are just some of the things you can do to improve the quality of your beauty sleep. With these tips, we hope you get a good night’s rest!
