We’ve all got them. Those things you indulge in online when you have a spare 5 minutes and no one is looking over your shoulder. It might be checking out the latest releases on Netflix, or it might be seeing what online games you can play. You know you could be at the gym, or outdoors getting fresh air, but you’d rather be doing your online stuff. Whatever your guilty pleasure is, we’re here to tell you to carry on — it’s not as bad as you think! Here’s why.
Streaming Sites: Netflix, Amazon, Hulu
If you aren’t one to binge on a good TV series… then WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE?? It’s no surprise that online TV/movies streaming is the go-to for weekend (and weekly) inexpensive entertainment for majority of the world. Netflix in particular always has a great lineup of streaming dramas, comedies + documentaries in which I personally have no guilt in binging on! Streaming services do their job and do their job REAL GOOD. All needed is a decent laptop, some wifi and snacks and you’re on your way to never getting up from your bed or couch unless to tinkle! Tehehe. I said all of that to say, there isn’t anything wrong with wanting to keep up with today’s TV on your OWN TIME! Hey, it certainly makes for good conversation :)
Shopping
Do you like to indulge in a little online shopping? We’re with you. Scouring the supplies of your favorite retailer is so much more fun from the comfort of your armchair. You don’t have to find parking. You don’t have to make sure your outfit matches. And you don’t have the temptation of grabbing a taco on the way home. Online shopping is the best, and you shouldn’t feel bad about it! When you do happen to feel particularly guilty about your online shopping habits, remember that shopping online uses 30% less carbon emissions than walking into a physical store. One of my favorite items in particular that I enjoy shopping online are delicates — especially from stores that cater to all shapes + sizes; and even underwear that work well “for sticky situations”, if you know what I mean. What woman doesn’t love a nice pair or set of under garments that will keep her feeling confident and feeling her best throughout the day? According to the LA Times, your trip to and from the store is the main culprit, and is more harmful to the environment than getting your stuff delivered.
Celebrity Gossip Blogs
Do you spend a few hours each week slowly working your way through Perez Hilton or the Huff Post? If so then you’re not alone. The internet has made addictive celebrity gossip freely available and our obsession with it has only increased in recent years. But you know what the good thing is? We aren’t chopping down precious trees to satisfy this need – at least, not nearly as much as we did when our only source of gossip was in magazines and newspapers. So don’t feel bad. You are truly saving the planet, one Kim Kardashian feature at a time.
Those are just some of the guilty online pleasures that aren’t nearly as bad as you think. What are your favorite things to indulge in in your spare time? What are your favorite ways to save the environment? Let us know!
