About the Editor

For most of my young adult life, things went as planned. Got my bachelors. Got my masters. Met a guy. Got a job. Blogged professionally as a creative writer on the side. Lived in a few different metropolitan cities on the East Coast immersed in several amazing different cultures, languages + communities, while simultaneously flourishing a few amazing opportunities; and somewhere between I want it and I got it, became a mom.

What you should know about me is that I’m far from perfect. I make mistakes. I’m way too hard on myself; which leads to unnecessary stressing. I likely drink too much wine; cue the relaxation from stress. I’m moody. I have days where I feel extremely overwhelmed with life, but that’s also the reason why I produce some of my best writing + art. I’m brutally honest. I’m sarcastic AF. I suffer from a tiny bit of postpartum depression.

But what you should also know about me is that I strive for greatness regularly + productively.  I’m humble and accept whatever life throws at me. I’m a free spirit. I’m creative. I love all of me. I’m loyal. I’m a feminist and have been known to break from the societal norm while challenging my own belief system of what a woman should be. I drink water, to balance out the wine. I’m authentic, adventurous, quirky + fun on the days I’m not moody. I’m transparent, I’m real; yet private. I love being a new mommy + partner to my best friend of 9 years.

“I am my own muse. I am the subject I know best.

The subject I want to better.” -Frida Kahlo

MISSION

What started out as an entertainment + lifestyle blog back in 2011, pslovecharli.com has since renovated into something more beautifully minimalistic as I continue to evolve through life’s precious milestones.

I’m committed to inspire women daily + abundantly. The goal here is to curate a no-judgment space that motivates women to live out their absolute best life: let’s pursue our dreams, reach our goals, obtain a habit for self-care, flourish our businesses, stimulate growth, chat about general life highs/lows, check in with our well-being + mental health — and enjoy the challenges of mommy hood.

BACKGROUND

Over the past few years, I had the pleasure of living out my dreams while a student of academia. Originally from the rich soils of Mississippi, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Jackson State University (2010), and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Film & Digital Media from Howard University (2013). During my matriculation through graduate school, I had the opportunity to intern in the creative + music departments at the corporate headquarters of BET Networks. I then spent two summers living in Brooklyn, NYC interning at Lower Eastside based Entertainment PR firm, Brandsway Creative. Alpha Kappa Alpha is what I rep. Gamma Rho, Spring 2010.

As a freelance publicist and social media manager, I had the opportunities to work with a range of creatives including southern indie Hip Hop artists Slimm Pusha (ATL) and Chuck Tee (MS), triple threat R&B music sensations, SuperJay (Oklahoma City, OK) and Tyler P.  Brooklyn, NY based creative clothing company, NO MAYO, and Washington, DC based Haute Hair Extensions.

Additionally, under the Tara Thomas Agency I worked for clients: VH1’s Love & Hip Hop ATL reality star Karlie Redd, Bravo’s Real Housewives Of ATL Mama Joyce & Sweden born pop star, MIZGIN.

LIFE NOW

Currently blooming in South Florida on the tropical + exotic metropolis of Miami, FL with my gender-neutral named loving family, 8 month old, Wynter Christian and partner, Shannon. I’m the owner + artist behind the fiber art bohemian shop, WYNTER MINT.

Above all, I’m human and I love God.

Let’s glow.

xx

  10. May I simply say what a comfort to discover somebody who actually knows what they are talking about online. You actually understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. A lot more people must look at this and understand this side of your story. I was surprised you’re not more popular given that you certainly have the gift.

  13. I’m amazed, I have to admit. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and interesting, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The issue is something that too few folks are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy I found this during my hunt for something regarding this.

  14. Dear Charli, thanks for following LIFE – AS I SEE IT. I too majored in communications at San Jose State Univer. and worked in the film industry (many years ago). Also, I have a niece who graduated from Howard in ’04 – what a great place to continue one’s education. I wish you the best of luck to go along with your many talents.
